Xianghuo He has received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from East China Normal University in 1995 and 1998 respectively, and obtained his Ph.D. degree from Medical School of Fudan University in 2003. From 2003 through 2006, Dr. He began his research on cancer cell signaling as a Postdoctoral research fellow at Department of Molecular & Cellular Oncology, UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. In 2006, Dr. He was recruited to State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes & Related Genes, Shanghai Cancer Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University.
At present Dr. He is appointed as PI and professor of Section of Functional Genomics in the national laboratory.

Dr. He was originally engaged in his scientific research on identification and functional characterization of human cancer related novel genes, cancer cell signaling, functional characterization and mechanistic investigations of cancer related microRNAs. He has published more than 30 papers in distinguished Journals such as International Journal of Cancer, Hepatology, MCB, Cancer Research, CELL, International Journal of Oncology, BBRC, Cell Research, etc. At present, Dr. He hosts 2 grants from Science and Technology Commission of Shanghai Municipality, 1 grant from The Ministry of Personnel of China, and participates in one 973 project and one 863 project.

Dr. He is now focusing his research interests on: 1, Identification and Characterization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Related Genes; 2, Functional Characterization and Mechanistic Elucidation of HCC Associated microRNAs; 3, Liver Cancer Cell Signaling; 4, Systemic Regulation and the Genesis of HCC.
