Jinjun Li obtained his B.S. degree from Veterinary College of Gansu Agricultural University in 1986, M.S. degree from Veterinary Department, Agricultural College of Yanbian University in 1989, and Ph.D degree from The United Graduate School of Veterinary Science, National Yamaguchi University (Doctoral Course) of Japan in 1997 respectively. After return, Dr. Li worked in National Veterinary Diagnostic Center from June, 1997 through Feb, 1999. In March, 1999, Dr. Li was recruited to State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes & Related Genes, Shanghai Cancer Institute, Shanghai Jiaotong University. Dr. Li has been appointed as assistant professor, associate professor and now as PI and professor of Section of Molecular Pathology in the national laboratory.

Dr. Li have taken in charge of many grants such as funds for the Returned Chinese Scholars from Ministry of Education, Ministry of Personnel and Shanghai Personnel Bureau, High Tech Research and Development Programme (863), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (RGC/NSFC), Shanghai Science and Technology Developing Program, etc. Now 2 projects, the National Key Project for Basic Research (973) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (RGC/NSFC), are in progress. Dr. Li was originally engaged in his scientific research on identification and functional characterization of human cancer related novel genes, HCC cancer stem cells, molecular mechanism of liver cancer metastasis. He has published more than 60 papers, 8 reviews, including 30 papers in SCI cited journals such as PNAS, Hepatology, Cancer Research, Clin Cancer Res, BBRC，BBA，Cell Research，Int J Cancer, etc. He was awarded for first and second grade prizes of Shanghai Science and Technology (in 2004 and in 2006 respectively), first grade prize of Shanghai Outstanding Invention in 2006.

Dr. Li now focus on basic researches as follows:
1. Identification and Functional Characterization of Hepatocellular Carcinoma Related Genes;
2. Characterization of HCC cancer stem cells;
3. Molecular mechanism of liver cancer metastasis by using cellular & pathological, proteomic as well as molecular techniques and platforms
