 The Shanghai Cancer Institute (SCI) was founded in 1958. It has been an independent research institution on cancer, affiliated to the Shanghai Municipal Bureau of Public Health. The SCI was identified by WHO as one of the WHO Collaborating Centers for Research on Cancer in China in 1980.
The mainly research laboratories are State Key Laboratory of Oncogene and Related Genes, Epidemiology Laboratory, Molecular and Immunological Diagnosis, Experimental Animal Laboratory, etc. On the approval of the National Science and Technology Committee, State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes and Related Genes was established on the basis of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 1985. There are 115 faculty and staff in the SCI. One hundred and eight of them are scientists, researchers and technicians, including three members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and 23 investigators.……
